The Alu-Cab Shadow Awning
Like all Alu-Cab products, the 270° Alu-Cab Shadow Awning is built tough! Built in the stormy Cape in South Africa, this awning is designed to stand up to strong winds and inclement weather. And with its aluminium-coated canvas it’s equally good at providing the coolest shade in desert climes.
But one of the most popular features of the awning is the ease with which it’s opened and closed, which is easily a one person operation. The unit has four arms, each containing a tie-down strap for really serious weather (a peg bag & pegs are also supplied); one leg has a drop down pole for breezy conditions but in fine weather you can get by without deploying it. So while the Alu-Cab Shadow Awning is built tough, it’s also built easy, designed to make your camping experience as comfortable and as effortless as possible.
The awning pivots from one central point and covers both the passenger side and the rear end of the vehicle. The pivoting end of the awning is built from 4,5 mm 304 stainless steel. The shadow awning needs to be mounted to either a strong roof rack or load bars. The awning itself is built from aluminium . The strength from the awning comes from the tapered box design. This offers great strength without the added weight.
The fabric used for the Alu-Cab Shadow Awning is another of its special features. A product called Tencate, imported from Germany is used. The material has an aluminized acrylic coating, which is not only 100% waterproof, but also reflects the sun’s rays more than conventional canvas.
